How To Have A Spooktacular Halloween With Braces!
It’s officially spooky season and that means it’s time to eat, drink and be scared! If someone in your family is undergoing orthodontic treatment this Halloween, they’ll need to be careful with the candy they choose. Don’t worry, though! Those with braces can still participate in all the Halloween festivities!
Halloween Candy Tips For Braces
The most important rule for participating in Halloween with braces is to stay away from anything that is too sticky or hard. This includes gummies, licorice, bubble gum, and any treats with nuts or caramel. These snacks can lead to broken wires and/or brackets. To avoid scaring Dr. Gage, stick to braces-friendly candies, such as Hershey’s Kisses, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, KitKats and soft chocolate bars.
After indulging in a sweet treat this Halloween, make sure to thoroughly clean your appliance soon after! If you have braces, you could be more prone to developing oral problems such as cavities. It is very critical to try and wash away any sugar! If you have Invisalign, remember to remove your tray before eating and thoroughly clean your mouth before putting your alinger back on. InBrace patients also need to be mindful when following their oral hygiene routine after snacking on a sweet!
